The Elkhart Parks & Recreation Department provides and maintains quality parks, facilities, open/natural spaces, and services to enhance the physical, social, and emotional well being of Elkhart’s citizenry.

Trees For Goshen was created to fund enhancements to Goshen’s urban forest. Our mission is to enhance, expand, and care for our urban forest through education, active engagement with Goshen’s residents, and citizen empowerment. We’re made up mostly of part-time volunteers with contributions by the city’s forester, who acts as a consultant. Trees for Goshen

The Elkhart Environmental Center is an environmental education facility that opened in 1991 on a remediated city dump. It has over 33 acres of dedicated trails, prairie space, wetlands, and riverfront, which are always open to the public. The Center offers educational programs, events, and volunteer opportunities intended to connect the community to the environment.

The Botanical Society of South Bend was formed to manage and upkeep the Potawatomi Conservatories. Designed and built in the 1960’s by Lord & Burnham, one of the 20th century’s pre-eminent designers of greenhouses, the Conservatories were gifts from Ella Morris and the Muessel-Ellison Foundation to the people of South Bend.
