Elkhart Community Schools offers a variety of volunteer opportunities connecting you with a student or classroom in grades k-12. Opportunities during the school day include mentoring students, Real Men Read and Spring Into Reading. Mentoring a student requires a 30 minute weekly commitment throughout the school year. RMR and SIR offers connections in an elementary classroom in the Fall or Spring for a period of 30 minutes/week for a total of 4 weeks. Reading Camps offer a one-to-one or small group experience with 1st and 2nd grade students for 1 or 2 hours a week, or as a Sub for 8 weeks. These occur after school from late Jan-March from 4-5pm.
